Welcome to Land and Moon Ceramics!

Hi, I am Shelley. I create simple, functional forms influenced by my time in japan and my love of the outdoors. My ceramics have a raw perfection, simple lines and a truly organic form. My aim is to simply enhance your experience of eating and drinking with beautiful, hardworking tableware that is made to be used everyday. Each Land & Moon piece is entirely unique having been hand thrown, turned and glazed.

In our age, where things move quickly and we increasingly live in a virtual world, everyday items are often mass produced and disposable. This is my little retaliation against this life of haste and waste. I think the world of technology has moved me to seek something more ”human”. I endeavour to move towards a simpler and slower way of living where we focus on quality of life instead of quantity of possessions. There is a lot of comfort in using a cup that you love, that feels good in your hand. Your cup of tea tastes better. You take the time to appreciate it more. I feel excited to be part of this movement towards “slow”.

There is a mystical, meditative quality to working with clay. Everything completely slows down. The breath becomes a little deeper and we start to let go of our mental and physical tension. The therapeutic magic of clay begins.

One-off Taster Sessions

Taster Session for one person

1 hour 30 minutes @ £60.00

Taster sessions are for individuals or groups of up to 5 people. Its a chance to learn a little about the ceramic process and get hands on with clay on the potters wheel! You will be able to take home your own wheel thrown pot. I will turn and glaze your pot which will be ready to collect at a later date.

Taster Session for two people

1 hour 30 minutes @ £120.00

Taster Session for three people

1 hour 45 minutes @ £180.00

Taster Session for four people

1 hour 45 minutes @ £240.00

Evening Escape

The Evening Escape for 4 people

3 hours @ £320.00

The evening runs from 6.30pm at Land and Moon’s beautiful studio at Greve De Lecq Barracks. You will have the chance to try out the potters wheel and relax with friends. The cost is £75 per person which includes cheeseboard, wine, all materials and your wheel thrown pot, finished and glazed. This event is for groups of 4 or 5, as it really is most fun with your friends. Available on Thursday evenings only.

The Evening Escape for 5 people

3 hours @ £400.00

Courses

6 Week 1-2-1 Course (2hr Sessions)

2 hours @ £390.00

The 1-to-1 sessions follow a 6 week course. They focus on wheel throwing but also include a little hand building. You will learn how to throw a cup and a bowl on the potters wheel, how to turn your piece (refining the piece on the wheel once it has become “leather hard”) and be able to glaze your pieces. We also learn how to “pull” handles for your mugs or cups. The classes are 2 hours. All materials and clay included. Please book the first session here and schedule the rest with Shelley. £65 per s

Sunday Sessions

Sunday Session

3 hours @ £35.00

The Sunday sessions are for those with a little more experience of ceramics and would like some time to practice without any instruction.The session cost includes use of pottery wheel, tools and Arthouse facilities and kitchen for tea and coffee.
Sessions run from 9.30 to 12.30 or from 1.30 to 4.30 on Sunday and must be booked by the Friday before the Sunday Session. Please contact Shelley for more details. Shelley@landandmoonceramics.com
